Garage Floors
The garage is a pretty happening place. A center of foot and vehicle traffic as well as often doubling as a workshop, the garage needs to be hardy enough to withstand all the activities that go on inside. Garage floors are the best place to start. If you have a heavy-duty garage floor, maintaining the rest of the space should be a cinch.
What Do Garage Floors Have to Handle?
Everybody’s garage is different. Some people use their garage as a storage space, piling up boxes or outdoor equipment in the available spaces. If this is the case in your home, your garage floor needs to be strong enough to hold everything stored inside and waterproof enough to keep boxes safe from water damage or dew.
Those with a DIY bent often use the garage as a workstation. This can encompass many different kinds of projects, from carpentry to painting to welding. Garage floors in a workshop or studio capacity must be able to resist staining or damage from dropped nails or flying sparks. General protection is the key here so you can enjoy versatility in your space.
Whatever else you may use your garage for, the likelihood that you use it to store your car is high. Afterall, that is what a garage is for. Your garage floors need to be strong enough to hold up the vehicles you store there, SVU, motorcycle, or boat. They should also be able to manage all the foot traffic from the comings and goings of such vehicles.
Vehicles can be pretty messy too. Dripping oil, gasoline, other fluids, road grime, and deicers are all common problems for garage floors. A professional garage floor coating can protect the concrete of your garage floors from all these hazards.
If you want your garage floors to handle anything you throw at them, contact the Brush Brothers Coating team (385-474-8188) for a garage floor coating installation.

Coating Your Garage Floors
With so many threats to your garage floor, there has to be a solution to protect the concrete. That solution is a professional garage floor coating. These come in several varieties with infinite customizability and serve to improve both the appearance and durability of garage floors.
Garage floor coatings act as a barrier between dirt, water, and other contaminants and the concrete of your garage floor. This prevents damage, minimizing the amount of repairs required to the concrete and extending the longevity of the material. Garage floor coatings are resistant to staining, scratching, scuffing, chipping, and skidding.
A good coating smooths out the natural roughness of concrete, making the surface of your floor glossy and easy to clean without being dangerously slippery. On top of everything else, floor coatings just look nicer than exposed concrete. Installation is tailored to a property owner’s specific tastes, and the finished product looks so much more, well, finished. You can improve the value of your entire property by installing a professional garage floor coating.

Types of Garage Floor Coatings
In addition to choosing more obvious features like style and color, property owners have their pick of garage floor coating materials. These are not all made equal, and your unique style and needs should determine which garage floor material you select for your home.
Epoxy Garage Floors
Epoxy is a very popular choice for installing garage floor coatings. The material comes in many colors, offering creative freedom for property owners to choose from. It also reflects light well, improving the visibility of dark spaces like garages and maximizing safety. Epoxy floors are generally the less expensive floor coating option, and many homeowners consider it the more cost-effective choice.
More to the point, epoxy is very tough. It is impact resistant, protecting the floor underneath masterfully. It provides protection from contaminants and cracking and has reduced chances of peeling off. Epoxy garage floors require very little maintenance.
Epoxy, however, is not without its downsides. At its core, the material is a kind of resin combined with hardening agents. This makes it famously slow-drying. Installing an epoxy garage floor usually takes several days.
The durability of an epoxy garage floor is heavily dependent on the installation, so any mistakes during the installation process have lasting effects. While the material does last a long time with very little maintenance, it is generally recommended that you replace epoxy floors every five years. Epoxy can become slippery when wet, though this can be mitigated with anti-slip additives.
Polyaspartic Garage Floors
The other kind of garage floors we offer at Brush Brothers Coatings are made of polyaspartic. Polyaspartic coatings are more flexible and durable than those of epoxy. In fact, polyaspartic has been said to be six times stronger than epoxy. They also tend to last longer, despite having an installation process that takes a fraction of the time. A simpler and expedited installation process also makes installation during the colder months more feasible for polyaspartic.
Polyaspartic floor coatings can be recognized by their customizable flake look. This is achieved by using vinyl paint chips to create beautiful designs and textures. Such flakes make mimicking other materials like granite and marble possible. They also make polyaspartic floors a little less slippery than epoxy.
The elastic nature of polyaspartic allows it to shift in changing temperatures without damaging the concrete underneath. This makes the material highly resistant to both physical, chemical, and weather-related damage. It is an excellent choice for any garage floor.
